Touring Scenic Haifa

"Haifa Scenic Way" is the first tourist route of its kind in Israel that reveals the wonderful scenic views of Haifa and the unique attractions and special urban buildings of the City. The tour route passes between the 21 lookout points that are spread across 60 kilometers along the crest of the Carmel Mount and different points of interest in the City. The project is a joint initiative and investment of 10 million Shekels between the City of Haifa, The Haifa Tourist Board and the Israel Ministry of Tourism, together with private donors, for the establishment of five lookout points in choice spots along the tour route.

The "Haifa Scenic Way" tour route allows one to gain a visual impression of the rare views of Haifa, while peaking into the communities, the special attractions of Haifa and the scenic views surrounding it. The lookouts are established at choice points that emphasize the varied angles of view and acquaintance with attractive areas that characterize Haifa - a meeting of mountain and blue-green sea.

The "Haifa Scenic Way" was built upon an ancient waterway that stretches along the the mountain crest from the University of Haifa, located in the National Carmel Forest and Park, along Moriah Ave., Yefe Nof St., until Stella Maris and through special points of interest on the slopes of the Carmel Mount and the City downtown. The tour route is accessed by car that passes along historical sites, culture and art centers, shopping areas, entertainment sites and tourist attractions.

The idea for the "Haifa Scenic Way" project was formulated in the 90's and implemented in 2003 by the city of Haifa, The Haifa Tourist Board, and the Israel Ministry of Tourism under the auspices of the Israel National Government Company for Tourism. The idea for the scenic way tour was borrowed from cities with similar scenic ways that exist in many cities in the United States and throughout the world.

The "Haifa Scenic Way" project markets the city as a complete package with all its aspects and components. The "Haifa Scenic Tour" route embraces all the sites that Haifa offers to its visitors today and all this, while integrating the ethnic/religious fabric of the City, where life goes on in one hand of Jews, Christians, Muslims, Baha'is, Druze and Achmidites.

The "Haifa Scenic Way" Tour is recommended for touring at night, as well as day, as the panoramic views that are spread out, shed their colors to reveal changing backgrounds , as day turns into night.

The Minister of Tourism, Mr. Beni Alon, said that the present project is another form of investment that the Ministry of Tourism has made in the city of Haifa. The Minister noted that he is certain that the project will widen the variety and increase the supply of tourist attractions that the City offers to its visitors and establish its tourist status as a leading tourist city.

The Mayor of Haifa, Mr. Yona Yahav, says that the love of the city and faith in the potential that lies within, put us aflight to plan this project with the blessing of the Ministry of Tourism. The visitors in Haifa and those that enjoy the "Haifa Scenic Way" can see themselves as guests of the City, The Haifa Tourist Board and the personal guest of the Mayor of Haifa.
