Carmelit Subway

The Haifa Formula: Eight Minutes – and you arrive refreshed!

Mother's Garden>B'nai Zion>Massada>Neveiim>Solel Boneh>Paris Square.

The Carmelit Subway of Haifa transports almost one million travelers a year that prefer to arrive refreshed to their destinations spread throughout six stations.

The direct line that connects between two points from Mother's Garden on the Carmel Mount to Paris Square in the downtown, without frustrated waiting in traffic jams or at traffic lights, without dangerous accidents – the main purpose, to arrive at a record speed and at a price to fit everyone.

800,000 travelers use the Carmelit every year – the only subway in Israel that saves them frustration, anxiety, precious time, ecological problems, tiring heat and humidity, and other inconveniences that await travelers on the same route by private car or bus, especially for those in private cars, it definitely saves money that plays an important part.

For a nominal price that is suitable for all, the Carmelit passengers arrive to their destination quickly, within 8 minutes at the most, in the shortest distance, most comfortable and fastest way possible – connecting two points along the length of the two kilometer route between Paris Square, in the Haifa downtown to Mother's Garden in the Carmel Center. Other Haifa residents that haven't taken advantage of the wonderful Carmelit, travel the same distance in 30 minutes, at best.

Another definite advantage of the Carmelit Subway is in its underground, safe, location. As opposed to cars that are likely to turn over or collide or skid, the Carmelit enjoys a high level of almost absolute safety.  Every year the subway cars are periodically tested by experts of the Technion, and by the private Swiss Company of "Frey". Another aspect of safety is taken by the Carmelit Administration that endorses the security of its passengers by employing trained security personnel at every key entrance of the Carmelit stations.

The destinations along the route are varied and many – in the Carmel, the downtown and Hadar HaCarmel, with government offices, centrally located businesses, tourist attractions, intercity bus stations, city information centers, research and medical centers, and much more…..

In addition to veteran Haifa residents, visitors from all over the country enjoy the Carmelit, mainly the youth that enjoy the experience of traveling safely in the underground location. Also many new immigrants that have come to live in Haifa have regularly used the Carmelit near their homes, turning the Carmelit into a means of their preferred transportation.
