The Abba Hushi Center for Culture and Society, or as nicknamed, "Abba Hushi House", was built in 1969 on the northern slopes of Wadi Rushmiya (Hero's Stream), in the heart of the green housing neighborhood of Neve Shaanan.

The Center was built as a solution for the heritage initiative put forth by the former Mayor of Haifa, Abba Hushi, to turn the city of Haifa into a center of culture and a national city of influence.

The spatial areas of activity include: a 500 seat auditorium, a 100 seat lecture hall, a spaciously enclosed entrance, a dance studio with mirrored walls and parquet flooring, school classes, seminars and a state of the art fitness center. All of the complex facilities are situated in the heart of an area of greenery.

The activity topics include: concert series, performances, lectures, seminars and events. As a Center for leisure activity, different activity groups are organized, including sport, self-defense in all its forms,  innovative and even esoteric activities are formed in order to provide a variety of activities for a varied public demand. The performance hall houses productions of international performances of jazz, blues and world music, areas of which Abba Hushi House identifies with. Performing arts, artists and international ensembles, most of which are in Israel for the first time, include known artists and ensembles from the United States, Holland, Italy, Czech Republic, France, Bulgaria, Greece, Brazil and South Africa. Well-known Israeli Artists perform for the "Song Club", which has a die-hard fan following.

Another aspect of leisure activity that the Abba Hushi Community Center offers are an abundance of activity groups that operate all hours of the day, for all ages from young to old and centered around the subjects of self defense, foreign languages, creative arts, music, drama, ethnic dance, classic ballet, jazz,  ballroom dancing, youth military preparation, young children's music, varied activities, and even seminars on the subject of alternative medicine, "Tuesday Baby Club" offers a twice monthly children's performance series.  The newly formed art gallery shows changing art exhibits for paintings, drawings and photography.

מרכז לתרבות וחברה ע"ש אבא חושי (בית אבא חושי)
המרכז לתרבות וחברה ע"ש אבא חושי, או כפי שמכונה בפי כל "בית אבא-חושי", הוקם בשנת 1969 על מדרונו הצפוני של ואדי רושמייה (נחל גיבורים), בליבה של שכונת מגורים מוריקה, נווה שאנן.

המרכז הוקם כמענה למורשתו הרעיונית של ראש העיר חיפה דאז אבא חושי, ששאף להפוך את העיר חיפה למרכז תרבותי תוסס ובעל השפעה ברמה הארצית.

חללי הפעילות השונים כוללים: אודיטוריום (500 מושבים), אולם הרצאות (100 מקומות) רחבה מרווחת מקורה, סטודיו למחול המצוידים במראות היקפיות ורצפת פרקט, כיתות לימוד, סדנאות, חדר כושר משוכלל, וכל המתחם הממוקם בלב ריאה ירוקה.

נושאי התרבות המוצעים כוללים סדרות קונצרטים, מופעים, הרצאות, ימי-עיון, ואירועים .
בתחום הפנאי מופעלים חוגים שונים, למן הנושאים המוכרים ועד לחדשניים ואף האזוטריים, זאת, במגמה לתת, כמרכז תרבות עירוני, מענה לקהלים שונים בעלי עניין מגוון.
אולם המופעים מאכלס הפקות בינלאומיות בתחומי הג'אז, הבלוז ומוסיקת העולם, תחומים עימהם מזוהה בית אבא- חושי. אומניות, אמנים והרכבים בינלאומיים, מרביתם לראשונה בישראל, שמות חמים הרכבים מעניינים מארה"ב, הולנד, איטליה, צ'כיה, צרפת, בולגריה, יוון ברזיל, דרום-אפריקה .
מיטב האומנים הישראלים מופיעים במסגרת "מועדון הזמר" מועדון עתיר מעריצים מושבעים.

פן נוסף בפעילות בית אבא חושי לקהילה בתחום הפנאי - עשרות חוגים המתקיימים בכל שעות היום, לכל הגילאים -מעוללים ועד גמלאים. מגוון החוגים כולל ספורט וקרב מגע לסגנונותיו השונים, שפות זרות אומנות ויצירה , נגינה, דרמה ,מחול - אתני, ג'אז, בלט קלסי סלוני, הכנה לצה"ל לצעירים ומוסיקה לפעוטות, ומגוון חוגים וסדנאות בתחומי הטיפולים המשלימים. מועדון "יום ג' לטף" מועדון דו חדשי של הצגות לילדים
